laptopThe following policies and procedures apply to all clients.

For retainer clients, work commences when a contract is in place and the first payment has been made. However, work will cease if an invoice is not paid.

For pay-as-you-go projects, work commences when deposit has been paid. Deposits shall be $350, or 1/2 of the estimated project cost — whichever is greater.

Payments can be made online with a debit/credit card, or by check.  There will be a $40 fee on all returned checks.

There are no refunds, but I understand that it is very easy to overestimate how much time you need. Up to 20% of your hours may be “banked” for future use during our first 3 months working together, and we will reevaluate your retainer agreement and adjust accordingly! (Please refer to the retainer packages info for the number of rollover hours allowed beyond the first 3 months.)

Time is calculated per minute, with a one hour minimum on all non-retainer invoices.  A summary can be made available upon request.

I prefer to communicate with clients via email or instant messenger. Emails and phone calls will normally be returned within 24 hours, although I do my best to respond to emails sooner.

If face-to-face meetings are necessary, we can schedule a time to chat via Skype; for clients in Northeast Kansas or the Kansas City metro area, it is also possible to schedule a meeting in person.

Billable hours include all phone calls and face-to-face meetings , as well as IM or email exchanges that exceed 5 minutes.

Turnaround times vary: New tasks usually require 3 business days. For retainer clients, the turnaround time will normally be 1-3 business days. On one-time projects, a specific timeline will be negotiated before work commences.

“Rush” projects are last-minute requests with a turnaround time of less than 24 hours. A rush fee of up to 35% of the total will be added to your invoice, depending on the service.

Normal hours of operation will vary, but are often between 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday, and 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
